HAPPY LEAP YEAR!
Did you know that 2008 is a leap year? I had no idea until I visited the IKEA Frisco website just now... So one more day in the wonderful month of Febuary... IKEA will have leap year specials on February 29. They have 29 items reduced to $29 and breakfast for only 29 cents! This is the information I found on wikipedia:

A leap year (or intercalary year) is a year containing one or more extra days (or, in case of lunisolar calendars, an extra month) in order to keep the calendar year synchronised with the astronomical or seasonal year. For example, February would have 29 days in a leap year instead of the usual 28. Seasons and astronomical events do not repeat at an exact number of full days, so a calendar which had the same number of days in each year would over time drift with respect to the event it was supposed to track. By occasionally inserting (or intercalating) an additional day or month into the year, the drift can be corrected. A year which is not a leap year is called a common year.

By the way, did you know that a person born on February 29 may be called a "leapling"? I had no idea... In common years they usually celebrate their birthdays on 28 February or 1 March.

Growing up here, I was aware that it was Leap Year. I have a friend that got married on a Leap Year on the 29th of Feb. So we joked that they'd technically only have to celebrate their anniversary once every 4 years! : )

They wouldn't have to worry about spending money on gifts... =)

Exactly! : ) I just thought about it -- we have four special days this month -- Leap Year, Ground Hogs Day, Abe Lincoln's B'day and Valentine's Day (which triples as Scott and Todd's B'days) and this year also is Griffin's golden birthday (he'll be 12 on the 12th!). Quite the month for celebrating! :)
