Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! I live far away from some of you (I miss you!) and it can be difficult to stay in touch at times. This blog is my attempt to keep you up-to-date with my life here in Oklahoma.

Relating to my previous post (dealing with driving under bad weather conditions): In Sweden you have to be 18 to have a license. I got my license on June 2nd of 1992. I will forever remember that day! What a joy to be able to drive on your own! In Sweden you sign up with a driving school where you take a number of driving classes. You also take 'theory' classes. It is a very tedious process (expensive too). I took 15 driving classes (which is a low number). This is why it is such a joy to finally get your license back home.

Everyone is required to take a 'mandatory risk course' (info from a Swedish website). We have to learn how to drive under different weather conditions (rain, snow etc). We drove to Stora Holm (not too far away from Gothenburg). What a memory... Stora Holm has one of the largest skid pan facilities in Europe. They have advanced tracksystems for risk and maneuver driving. They offer safety based traffic education. They annually take on 11 500 student drivers for their mandatory risk course. Here are some photos of this facility (now you know how serious Swedes are about their driving education). We even learned how to avoid hitting moose (fake moose) on the road...

Wow! What a process -- but it makes sure you're good drivers I bet. :)
