TREE
Yesterday we bought a Christmas tree at Lowe's. They have beautiful trees there and we (Carson) found one right away. I was so happy. I compared it to other trees but it was the most beautiful one. Good pick, Carse! It was straight and very even.
We drove to Lowe's in two vehicles. John had borrowed Sandro's pick-up (perfect for two trees) and picked up Carson. Malin and Jonathan picked up Max and me. We were very excited about going tree-shopping. We knew the boys would be excited too. By the way... Max now (since yesterday) says 'julgran' which is Swedish for 'Christmas tree'. When Malin parked in front of Lowe's we looked back at the boys and they were both sleeping! That was so funny. Since it is the law to have kids awake while tree-shopping... we woke them up (they would have woken up anyway...) Carson put the tree in the tree stand yesterday but I decorated it today. Max has been good around the tree (although he wants to remove some of the ornaments from time to time...) I think thre tree looks so pretty. We also have our Swedish electric candlesticks (two of them) in the window. I will have to post some photos...
Vi also planted a tree outside this afternoon. It was delivered a few days ago from Norman Parks & Recreation. It is the free tree that I told you about some time ago. Many houses on the block have similar trees standing outside. I am kind of excited about this. I think it is phenomenal that they offer free trees for people. They want you to plant the trees in the easement (the area between tha sidewalk and the street). We got a different tree than the one we chose from the pamphlet but we like it very much. It is a Sycamore tree which is kind of similar to a maple tree. We are both excited to have the tree in the ground. I think it will look pretty. I will have to post some photos...

How cute and funny that the boys were both sleeping when you got to Lowe's for your tree. : ) How fun that you have it up already -- you'll have to post pictures of your Christmas tree and your sycamore. The City of Appleton has a program that has been in effect for years called "Tree for a Tree". At the end of the Christmas season if you bring your Christmas tree in to a designated area instead of putting it on the curb, you get a coupon for a free blue spruce seedling that you can plant in your yard. The city then chips up the trees and you can get free mulch in the spring for planting. Some people actually go around collecting trees off the curbs so they can turn them in for coupons!

What a great idea! I would love a blue spruce. Mom and dad had one before they had to remove it. It was very pretty. =) I will post some photos of the tree. I really will. It will probably be some time this week. =)
