IKEA
I found some interesting info regarding IKEA online. The Swedish furniture GIANT is the recipient of the 'Best Commercial of 2006'. The prize was awarded by the Commercial Closet Association (a gay organization). The ceremony was held at the Time Warner Center in New York City. I think this is cool. IKEA is popular with everyone. The award-winning commerical is not the only example featuring a gay couple. In 1994 IKEA had a TV commercial featuring a gay couple buying furniture. Some people found the commercial offensive and the commercial was withdrawn from TV. Apparently there had been bomb threats at US store locations. The 2006 commercial ended with the following question: 'Why shouldn't sofas come in flavors, just like families?' I love IKEA. It has a special place in my heart. It always will.

Ingvar Kamprad (IKEA's founder) smiling big.
P.S. I doubt that a commercial would ever have been withdrawn in Sweden. People are more open-minded there. People are different. Why worry when you can be happy?

I agree with you that America can be very narrow-minded at times. A lot of countries overseas don't seem to be as uptight!

That is true. But I do have to say that Sweden is uptight in other areas. I suppose noone is perfect.
